Meet the Wedding Party

The Bride

Charlotte. A GP who lives and works in Salisbury. Grew up in Milford-on-Sea. Studied at Oxford University and then Imperial College London before doing her junior doctoring in Southampton and the New Forest. Has volunteered for 4 summers in Romania working with disadvantaged children and studied expedition medicine in Belize where she lived in the jungle for a month. Mother to Amelia and Theo who are the greatest joys of her life. Loves Disney, musicals, singing loudly to the music of her youth and good food. Kind, generous and empathetic to a fault.

The Groom

David. Headteacher of Amesbury Archer Primary School. Grew up in Salisbury and studied English Language and Politics at Aston University. Loves cricket, captained the university second XI and currently plays for Redlynch and Hale. Previously worked in Politics before doing his teacher training. A passion for supporting disadvantaged children – previously devoted years to volunteering with the Mother’s Union holiday taking families away from it all for a week-long seaside holiday. Loves history – particularly military history and that of the World Wars. Father to Amelia and Theo who he loves so much. Passionate, loyal and kind.

Mother of the Bride

Jane. A retired BBC current affairs editor. An incredible storyteller and keen horse rider. Educated at Oxford university but unfortunately still supports Cambridge during the boat race (much to her daughter’s disgust, but it is where she grew up). Fluent in French, always looking for her next adventure and competent at everything she sets her mind to. Has been Charlotte’s voice of reason, biggest support and incredible role model. A wonderful Nana, much like her own mother.

Father of the Bride

Steve(n). A retired award-winning BBC Film Editor. Grew up in Mytholmroyd in Yorkshire with parents and a sister who couldn’t have been more proud of him. A lover of history, film and the outdoors. A solver of problems and facilitator of adventures for his daughter who is far too much like him. A family man who believes in and creates magic.

Flower girls

Amelia (Mia/Millie). Daughter of the bride and groom. Pure magic. A life enthusiast who wants to try everything and always succeeds. An exceptional little girl who started talking and dancing from the moment she was born and who hasn’t stopped. Loves horses almost as much as pasta pesto!

Hettie. Niece of the bride and groom. A gorgeous little poppet who loves the outdoors and playing with her cousins. Enjoys trips to the farm, beach and Moor’s Valley! A kind and clever little girl who makes her family proud. No photos please.

Page Boys

Theo(dore) (Teddy). Son of the bride and groom. Energy and light. A frenetic, whirlwind rainbow-baby. Our funny, charming, cuddly little boy, who can often be found being a dinosaur, lion or other roaring animal. The most loving and the most fun, who is already making up amazing stories. Will play with cars for hours.

Ollie. Godson of the bride and groom. Son of Naomi (bridesmaid) and Rob (Best Man). A super sweet, playful boy who looks after Theo. A brilliant imagination. Loves milkshakes, cars and animals.

Charlie. Brother to Ollie. The reason his parents became friends with the bride and groom (via NCT and representing our NCT family who we love so much). A football enthusiast who can eat a LOT of pizza.

Bridesmaids

Frances (Known as Frankie, Auntie Effie). Sister of the groom. Previously pampered princess of the Webber Family who is now a Burke. Ex-teacher who now works for the Police. A strong, capable woman who is fiercely supportive of the family. A wonderful, loving mother and aunt. The most supportive sister.

Caroline. Cousin of the bride (but grew up more like a sister). A diagnostic specialist for a veterinary pharmaceutical. Resides in Switzerland. Speaks multiple languages. A daredevil, who snowboarded off a cliff and came away with minor cuts and bruises. A beautiful person inside and out. A lover of adventure and animals (who is never far from her dog Nella).

Ruth. Oxford University bestie of the bride. Studied biology and went on to train as a primary school teacher. One half of Pinky and The Brain. A fantastic mother to her boys, wife to Nick and excellent loyal friend. Godmother of Amelia. Has seen the bride at her best and her worst and continues to love and support her. The funniest (ask about the train video).

Olivia. Met the bride whilst working at Lymington Hospital and now fellow GP. Godmother of Amelia and (eventually) Theo too. Love and light. A truly incredible person who is one of the first to know about any big moments in the bride’s life. Enjoys amateur dramatics and being by the sea with her dog Luna. Resilient, brilliant and always there for us.

Naomi. Met the couple whilst doing NCT with our eldest children 7 years ago. Godmother of Amelia and (eventually) Theo. Supported Charlotte through some of the most difficult and traumatic moments of her life. A wonderful mother who works with the infant feeding team at Salisbury hospital (a trained NICU nurse and health visitor). Planner of the hen party. Loves a cocktail.

Best Men

Rob. Brilliant father to Ollie & Charlie, husband to Nai. Well-travelled air enthusiast, and current professional waste disposal expert, Rob has been the biggest support to David through parenthood. Introduced David to Guiness, Tequila and generally has a lot to answer for. You may find David and Rob together at the pub, watching football or talking about his time in the Falklands.

Christian. Lover of board games, gaming and motorsport. The founding member of White Chocolate. Family-man, computer wizard and all-round funny guy. Always there for David and the family. You may find David and Christian playing board games, attending a beer festival or discussing the nerdier things in life.

Groomsmen

Giles. Brother of the bride. Does clever things with computers and programming (wedding website creator). Empathetic, logical and despite the 7-year age gap, one of the best friends of the bride. A keen cyclist and gamer. A good cook – makes excellent sushi.

James. (Known as Taylor, JT). Long time friend of the groom, having played cricket together for far too long at both Redlynch and at Coombe Bissett. Despises “Woke Nonsense”. JT is the Keeper of Secrets, knowing almost everything from David’s past, present and future (or he’ll make it up convincingly!). Loyal and supportive, there are very few situations that David has faced without him.

Ian. Long time friend of the groom and Godfather-in-waiting for Theo, having opened the batting together for over a decade. Ian is the MC, the welcoming committee and larger-than-life groomsman who may (or may not) look like The Penguin in tails. Ian can recite every game of cricket he has played in (over 1000 matches) and knows all there is to know about cows. Dependable and loyal, unless looking for a quick single or taking strike at the end of the over.
